(January 6-8, 2020)
The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) has been leading a series of conversations with educational leaders of the United Methodist Church to discuss the future of Global Methodist Education. IAMSCU has been part of these conversations. The next conversation will take place in the context of the Winter meeting of the National Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities of the United Methodist Church (NASCUMC). The NASCUMC meeting is being held in conjunction with the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and many of the Presidents of colleges and universities will be able to attend.
Moving beyond an ongoing dialogue already happening within the United States, this event will involve Presidents from colleges and universities from Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and North America – thus expanding the framework of discussions. This type of initiatives enables a greater interaction and better understanding of the different realities and contexts in which Methodist education is being promoted. The participants are leaders in Methodist education and will have an opportunity to share the particularities of their contexts as well as their common understandings of the Wesleyan tradition of education and ministry. Tom Wolfe (IAMSCU President), Adriana Murriello (Vice-President), Amos Nascimento (Secretary) and other IAMSCU officers will be participating in these conversations. For more information, contact the IAMSCU office (firstname.lastname@example.org).
